Crafts – and stripes!

I think I warned you with my little obsession with stripes and polka dots…

Bubble dress

Anyway, this was Hilde’s meetup dress, a balloon dress and my first time of doing pintucks. A miniature clothing iron would have been a great help here, it was pain in the tail to iron the bodice and not to mess up the tucks…maybe I need invest into one even though they’re bit on the expensive side. Also please do notice her spats, sadly she cannot wear all those adorable yo-sd shoes around so I have to improvise ;3

Sewing helper?

Sewing helper

Enne, did you choose the fabric we should use on your new dress? Enne?
Enne: “Zzz-derp-zzz-derp…”

Okay, she isn’t any help when she’s just sleeping in my cotton quilt box, but damn isn’t she the cutest thing ever <3

(Oh, and I think we’ll choose the fabric with small pink stripes, just because I seem to have gotten a small obsession with stripes and polkadots lately ;3 You’ll see the next time I update my sewings, oh boy…)

Happy easter!

Happy Easter!

My little ones are already ready for our Finnish BJD forum’s b-day party! Outfits by me, it was really relaxing to sew on all the beads on Hilde’s dress <3 It's hard to believe even our forum is already five years old...if I remember correctly, I came in when the forum was already one year old, so in the summer, it's Aegis' (my first BJD) 4th birthday! Time sure flies. I maybe need to make a big post and go through all the changes there has been, lots of dolls have come and gone during these four years. I'm happy though that no matter what, Aegis is still here, my special little boy <3 And most of the characters I've come up with still remain.

Anyway, today is my official "do-absolutely-nothing-useful"-day! Although I've kinda failed it already since I've done some kanzashi flowers for my dolls and I’ve written some texts as well…but no more useful and productive stuff! I think I’ll just make some more coffee and go and finish Ace attorney Investigations, I’m already at the last case. I really love this game :3

Happy easter!

Bears and ears

Bear

Been a little while, hasn’t it? I just haven’t had much to blog about…

  • Most of my “dolly” time has gone for setupping an Etsy store and no, no link yet since I haven’t got anything for sale….yet ;D I’m preparing a little collection of Pukifee/Lati and maybe YO-SD-stuff there and will definitely spam you with the link once it’s ‘officially’ launched. So far Etsy seems good and easy to use, I hope it works out well :3
  • Two headless pinky white female doll bodies on my shelf…welcome to the horror cabinet!
  • Waiting for our Leeke order, I got two wigs, a royal cadet blue one for uncle K and one in sakura pink for Hilde. I really wish Leeke would sell also wigs in 5.5 size since Enne would surely look fantastic in their green shades ;_; Come on, Leeke, something for Pukifees and Latis too, please?
  • Also waiting for these Dollheart shoes since, well, oops, stripes, heels, roses, pink, Meital, oh no, must get…you know, the usual story. I’ve noticed I’ve become quite picky with the doll shoes I’m interested in, no more basic high-heeled pumps or sneakears. I want all kinds of funny details, patterns, decorations and such – and in Meital’s case, the more frill, beads, lace and stuff, the better ;D Luckily – or unfortunately for my wallet – there is always Dollheart who usually hits right at the spot with their designs.
  • But not always. I have no idea how something with so much elements I love – stripes, lace, cameos, feathers – can just look so…no. Okay, maybe it’s the hotpants and fishnet stockings on a male doll, I admit. I could buy the set though and split it between my girls, Morri would get the hotpants, stockings and all the other stuff would go to Meital :D

Up to lately

Oh hi! This week hasn’t been a very good one, the first I was sick and now both boys have caught the same bug :( But I have some new things for the resin folks, no worries!

Bunny headdress

First your daily dose of “DERP?”. I visited an Asian kiosk the other day and lo and behold, they were also selling various cabochon to glue on your mobile phones. I bought the mirror and comb set and various roses, skulls and cakes to use on doll jewelry! They were not terribly cheap but I’m a sucker for cute miniature stuff so it’s all good. The bunny headdress is a new design and I’m planning to make a few for sale later :3

Even the little ones need style!

Yup, that’s true. I promised to take photos of the upcoming Lati Yellow/Pukifee-sized clothing collection of my friend – and I did! Here are some sneak preview pictures of a good stuff to come :3

Credits:

- Most clothing (and Lati Yellow Pury Madeleine :P ) from Illves.
- Photos, setup and knit hats by a certain monkey.

Armed and dangerous!

Bear hat

…photography-wise, that is. Because I have the best friends ever, I also have even more tapestry rolls and some floor materials <3 I tried one of the plastic floor mat pieces I got and gotta say I like the result very much. I think it's time I finally visit some hardware stores and bought some bigger pieces, because these things work like a charm and look very good. Too bad that all the hardware stores are located quite far, but I already have plans to visit one this weekend on my way to a friend's party :3

And yes, I'm even more armed now because I will go and pick something up this Thursday. It's something quite big and what I've been wanting for a while now. Yes, it's a new camera body :D Canon EOS 20D with a recently revampted shutter and all, for a great price. My 350D is getting old, the shutter count is something close to 50K, the viewfinder has some issues...and if you can get a better camera body at the price of repairing the little one - sorry, little one, you lose this time :P I'm excited to try the new camera out, I'm really curious to see if I can get even better results and try out new things <3 Happy!

Urgh, I have so many things to do...

p.s. All lovers of Victorian/steampunk/alternative clothing, I recommend you The Secret of Moonacre! The plot is…well, let’s not talk about the plot because it’s really terrible. But the costumes, I tell you! We screamed aloud at them, because they were so utterly fantastic :D If you watch it, just concentrate on the setting and the costumes…

Fleamarkets and little crafts

Fleamarket findings

I visited a fleamarket with Kihapuu and found lots of excellent stuff. The next time I’ll have more cash! But I pictured some of my discoveries: my favourite one was a miniature glass globe for them dollies. I had a similar, blue one which was a souvenir from my hubby to me. I just broke it ;_; The same seller had a fantastic birdcage with mechanical bird in it, but 50 euros…oh well, I saw something similar on Ebay selling over 2000 dollars :D Bit too much for a doll prop! We also found a MSD-sized doll park bench which at least I gave forward since I have limited space and my MSDs don’t really need one.

I also got some pretty fluffy mohair yarn which makes excellent bear hats (that’s one WIP on Enne’s head), bracelet that I broke apart for cheap glass beads and not pictured, Yashica’s film camera. I thought I might be able to remove its lense and use it on my Canon, but that’s not possible :P Oh well, it was cheap as what and now I at least have one working film camera if I feel like shooting on film. There was also a seller selling Russian/CCR memorabilia and Zenit cameras, I of course checked what kind of lenses they had ;3 Too bad they all had the same Helios lense I already own, but I’ll keep looking!

Awww, now I itch to go for an another hunt, I love fleamarkets and this one held in Helsinki’s ice hall will probably become my favourite :3 Luckily they will held more fleamarkets at the end of February <3

Today I took pictures of some stuff I’ve been making lately, they’ll be behind the cut!

I shopped

Stuff

Sorry about a bad photo, but this is how I spent gift cards worth of 70 euros on usefull stuff. Missing are some serger threads and new sewing scissors + some sewing machine oil. Yes, I went slightly berserk in Sinooperi and bought beads, sequins, ribbons and embroiredy threads, mostly pink-themed for Meital and my Yrie ;3

By the way, I never knew how expensive this trendy Tilda stuff is O_o

And do you see something suspicious behind all that blingy stuff? Why yes, you do! I already squeed over it in FB and IRC, but that’s my new serger <3 Yes, I got a serger from my workplace, it’s their old one :D I tried it and it works just fine, no need to get it repaired, even the cutting knives are in good shape. I made a pair of leggins for Meital and a sleeveless shirt for Mirkku, and I’m in love. It just took me a few tries, because I sewed too close to the edge of the fabric first and surprinsingly, the result was a mess of threads…and I tried really challenging fabric too, my most slippery and thin tricot. But the second shirt went really well :3 Practise, practise!
