A long time ago I saw Kallisti of Blastmilk.com posting a photo of her BJD shoes, and I thought it was the cutest picture ever. And today when I browsed our Finnish dolly forum and spotted a photo challenge called “Shoe!”, I remembered that photo right away and told myself “oh, yes!”.

Sadly this isn’t even all, I missed some pairs and still have some coming ;D These days I’m mostly smitten by those Chinese shoes which are sold by for example Fatiao, they seem to have more designs to my liking. I’m not crazy about j-rock, gothic or casual styles – I like fantasy, pirate, circus and Victorian/steampunk elements. Oh, narrow boottips too. There is also always Dollheart. ALWAYS.

And yes, I myself own maybe four pair of shoes ;D

What’s this “children of resin”? Well, it’s of course Hartsilapset, our Finnish BJD community/forum! With little over 1600 members, we’re the largest (okay, maybe also the only one ;P) national BJD forum, and the place where I spend a great deal of my daily internet time, especially in our IRC chat Anyway, the community turned 5 years old this April, and we had a little party to celebrate that in Helsinki this Saturday.

Okay, I cheated. With about 50 participants and 66 dolls, it wasn’t little. I was supposed to be the “official” photographer, but sadly, I kind got stuck in group activities/talking stupid stuff/making heaps of coffee/DRINKING heaps of coffee. Anyway, here’s my little stash of meetup photos:

My little ones are already ready for our Finnish BJD forum’s b-day party! Outfits by me, it was really relaxing to sew on all the beads on Hilde’s dress <3 It's hard to believe even our forum is already five years old...if I remember correctly, I came in when the forum was already one year old, so in the summer, it's Aegis' (my first BJD) 4th birthday! Time sure flies. I maybe need to make a big post and go through all the changes there has been, lots of dolls have come and gone during these four years. I'm happy though that no matter what, Aegis is still here, my special little boy <3 And most of the characters I've come up with still remain.

Anyway, today is my official "do-absolutely-nothing-useful"-day! Although I've kinda failed it already since I've done some kanzashi flowers for my dolls and I’ve written some texts as well…but no more useful and productive stuff! I think I’ll just make some more coffee and go and finish Ace attorney Investigations, I’m already at the last case. I really love this game :3

Those of you who have stalked our local community’s marketplace or IRC with me should already know…Meital’s doll form is changing into this beautiful girl. She’s N-Doll’s new sculpt Aiko, and it was love at the first sight. She looks like a lost little dove, and the most beautiful girl doll I’ve yet seen. Her white skin tone is so delicate, I love the shape of her eyes and those teeth, and the body is a bomb, especially those hands. Am I the only one who thinks those hands look bit like Unoa’s?

I’ve drawn funds from my savings to my main bank account and will order her right after the money has transferred. I’m so excited, it’s very rare for any doll sculpt to hit right in the heart – but this one did! After all Meital is my dearest dolly, and I want her to be the prettiest, fluffiest, silliest little princess full of innocence, never believing that the world is a grim dark place.

I visited a fleamarket with Kihapuu and found lots of excellent stuff. The next time I’ll have more cash! But I pictured some of my discoveries: my favourite one was a miniature glass globe for them dollies. I had a similar, blue one which was a souvenir from my hubby to me. I just broke it ;_; The same seller had a fantastic birdcage with mechanical bird in it, but 50 euros…oh well, I saw something similar on Ebay selling over 2000 dollars Bit too much for a doll prop! We also found a MSD-sized doll park bench which at least I gave forward since I have limited space and my MSDs don’t really need one.

I also got some pretty fluffy mohair yarn which makes excellent bear hats (that’s one WIP on Enne’s head), bracelet that I broke apart for cheap glass beads and not pictured, Yashica’s film camera. I thought I might be able to remove its lense and use it on my Canon, but that’s not possible Oh well, it was cheap as what and now I at least have one working film camera if I feel like shooting on film. There was also a seller selling Russian/CCR memorabilia and Zenit cameras, I of course checked what kind of lenses they had ;3 Too bad they all had the same Helios lense I already own, but I’ll keep looking!

Awww, now I itch to go for an another hunt, I love fleamarkets and this one held in Helsinki’s ice hall will probably become my favourite :3 Luckily they will held more fleamarkets at the end of February <3

Oh look who’s back <3 Jesmoth did him a new faceup and some moddings, and the result is…well, it’s Aegis all the way. I love his boyish little smirk, he looks a little bit otherwordly but just the right amount. He still has all the features I like about Ami sculpt like very round head, big eyes, small mouth and little button nose, but now he looks more like a loud little ADHD rascal he is meant to be. I think he stole those green glass eyes, so Halla will get new ones. I think I also know now what I want with Halla’s style, so the twins are most definitely back ;3

…dead bored of Enne, it might be wise to skip this post. I’m sorry about the flood, but she’s actually about the only thing I have to show off now, and hey, she’s got hair! Whee! She also had a pastel blue wig, I’ll probably get her white and pink hair as well.

My BJD stories are taking a hiatus probably until winter – both Kaamos and Meital need a facelift, and it takes a while because of the timetables of the customizers. Mirwaise’s new head is not even shipped yet…I also want Kaamos’ horns and other stuff ready, he’s getting Cuprit’s horns. And I want to start a bigger story arc which needs to be good, it needs pre-planning and writing and gah! Let’s say I’m gathering ideas, inspirations and props, and my stories will return with a blast later. Hopefully. Don’t worry, I absolutely love making stories :3

(I updated my shop, whee.)

Feh, I have a feeling my dolly hobby will take a slightly slower pace now. Uncle K is away for a new faceup, Meital needs one + some customization so she’s currently just hanging there. I also sold my Heliot head and bought him a new one ;3 It was an easy decision after all, I must admit that I just don’t like Soom’s faces and his huge elf ears were not good for his character. And I found a better head sculpt, the one that really said “oh boy, I’ll be a good Mirwaise. BUY ME.”

It also disturbed me a little bit that when people looked at my Heliot, they just saw OMG!HELIOT and not Mirwaise ^^; Okay, I just suck at explaining this, but I’ll try: there is such a huge hype around Soom monthlies that people just see the fancy sculpt and not the doll/character underneath. I didn’t sculpt Heliot but I made Mirwaise, and I’ll rather be complimented over creating a good character and styling him well instead over purchasing a wanted doll. Does this make any sense?

Anyhoo, we’ll see what comes of this “new” Mirwaise, I have high hopes for him.

And now when the “main” characters are on break, I’ve had the chance to bond with those of my dolls who do not get so much attention. I made a shirt for Huurre (my D.Lishe boy, do you even remember that I own him? ) and bought stuff for Halla, including a new wig. I think I need to play with my MSDs today.

Aka some of my recent knittings, all these are commissions from friends. Phew, it’s funny though, no matter how much I knit, I still have two big plastic bags of yarns. Why it never ends? And why do I keep buying more? *_*

★ I sold my Heliot head (the body remains) and will purchase a new head for Mirkku. K-doll Kasis shall he be, because that expression is just so cocky, perfect for mr. Sun himself. K-doll comes in Luts White, and Soom and Luts BWs match somewhat, so it should be an okay match. Excited!

★ Also teh little one should come to me soon, I saw her faceup already and boy isn’t the the cutest little bugger you will ever see! I’ve looked for wigs and such for her and decided her colour scheme – it shall be peppermint, green, pink and white. Little peppermint deer, hehe *3*

★ My crew needs new faceups and customizations badly. Oh, and clothes. And everything. Why it never feels that everything is ready?

★ I decided not to buy new dolls until 2010. Yeah, I really did! Why everyone’s laughing? My camera needs an upgrade, I have RL stuffs and uh, I just want to pamper my current dolls.
